Calitzdorp, is also known as the Port Capital of South Africa, and is situated at the heart of the Klein Karoo, just a few hours driving time from all the world-class tourist attractions of the region. Located half way between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), Calitzdorp is the ideal stopover on the way to the Garden Route.
Calitzdorp on the Route 62 is known for its wineries. Top quality wines are produced in Calitzdorp mainly by Boplaas, De Krans, Axe Hill and Calitzdorp Wine Cellar - although there are many other Calitzdorp cellars also producing quality port and wine in and around the town.
